Reviewing how I could best contribute to the well-being of my community with the skill set of my professional life on the mainland, it quickly became clear it would involve water. With rainwater catchment predominately the water source for household use in lower Puna, I began by offering an education outlet, along with a tank cleaning service and monthly maintenance service with an exclusive "Water Report Card", to the Rainwater Harvesters of Puna. Thus, my contribution for Clean Water for Our Community. After all, the quality of your water is a direct link to the quality of your health.

Need a Tank Clean? Walter is your guy! 808.494.9407
Eight years ago - after selling the home he built for himself in New England - Walter moved to the Big Island of Hawaii to pursue his dream of planting an edible food forest. After many years, his small forest grew to become a reality. After becoming a full-time father, Walter sold his fruit farm in order to buy a smaller piece of land and begin planting anew. He currently resides in Pahoa, where he and his toddler daughter continue to plant fruit trees.
Walter started in the clean water business in 2021, initially training under Uncle Tilo, before becoming nationally certified by ARCSA: the American Rainwater Catchment Systems Association. Walter enjoys his work. He takes pride in his work and cleans each tank as though it were his own. |
System Upgrades
Rainwater harvesting not only conserves water, but it’s also a great way to reduce stormwater runoff, thus reducing pollution of our rivers and streams. A rainwater harvesting system can be as simple as a rain barrel with a hose-bib, or may consist of multiple large tanks with pumping and filtration systems for household use and consumption.
