Upon evaluating how I could most effectively enhance the well-being of my community using my professional skills on the mainland, it became evident that water would play a crucial role. Given that rainwater catchment is the primary water source for household use in lower Puna, I initiated an educational platform, along with a tank cleaning service and monthly maintenance service that includes a unique "Water Report Card," for the Rainwater Harvesters of Puna. This initiative aimed to contribute to Clean Water for Our Community, recognizing the direct correlation between water quality and overall health.

System Upgrades
Rainwater harvesting not only conserves water, but it’s also a great way to reduce stormwater runoff, thus reducing pollution of our rivers and streams. A rainwater harvesting system can be as simple as a rain barrel with a hose-bib, or may consist of multiple large tanks with pumping and filtration systems for household use and consumption.
